SHAH ALAM, March 28 — Malaysia reported one death related to Covid-19 today, bringing the total to 27.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said as of noon today, 159 new cases have been reported, bringing the total number of positive cases in Malaysia to 2,320.
He said 61 patients have recovered and been discharged today, raising the number of fully recovered cases to 320.
“A total of 73 positive Covid-19 cases are still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 54 of them require respiratory aid,” he told a press briefing on Covid-19 in Putrajaya today.
Dr Noor Hisham said the latest death is case 2,162, a 61-year-old Malaysian man, who suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.
The patient was treated at Hospital Tangkak on March 24 before being transferred to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar, Johor, before he passed away today at 10.50am.
“Condolences to the family of the deceased,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
