SHAH ALAM, March 18 — Four water treatment plants — SSP1, SSP2, SSP3 and Rantau Panjang — have resumed operations at 10.30 pm yesterday after its operation was suspended due an earlier case of odour pollution.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) corporate communications head Abdul Halem Mat Som said the dilution process to reduce the odour pollution by pumping raw water supply from the Sungai Selangor and Sungai Tinggi dam, as well as HORAS 600, had successfully dropped the pollution level to 0 tonnes.
In a statement today, Air Selangor said the delay in the operation of the two water treatment plants was necessary to prevent the unpleasant odour from the treated water in the plants from affecting consumers.
"Following the suspension of the water treatment plants operations for three hours last yesterday, only several areas in Kuala Selangor and Klang were affected by temporary water cuts,” he said in a statement today.
The areas that were affected in Klang were Shah Alam, Meru, Kapar, Telok Gong, Pulau Indah and Pulau Ketam, while most parts in Kuala Selangor were infected, including Ijok.
Abdul Halem said the water supply in Kuala Selangor, Shah Alam, Teluk Gong, Pulau Indah and Pulau Ketam was resolved by 6 am while Meru and Kapar are expected to be solved by 6 pm today.
He said Air Selangor would provide continuous emergency water supply assistance through tanker lorries to the customers at the affected areas.
