Azam Baki appointed as new MACC chief

By Ashwin Kumar

SHAH ALAM, March 9 — Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki has been appointed as the new head of the anti-graft agency, replacing Latheefa Koya who resigned last week.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that Azam’s appointment is effective today.

“Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to Azam’s appointment and Latheefa’s resignation from the post.

"The government thanks Latheefa for her service to the nation throughout the time she held the post of MACC chief commissioner,” the statement read.

Latheefa submitted her resignation last week, following in the footsteps of Tan Sri Tommy Thomas who departed as the Attorney General (AG) shortly after Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad stepped down as the prime minister.
