BATU CAVES, Feb 21 — The Selangor government has approved an allocation of RM10 million to the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) for a long-term solution to resolve the flood issues in the area.

Its Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the funds would be used to maintain and upgrade the basic facilities and infrastructure to ease water flow during the rainy season.

"The state government understand the hardship suffered by the people during floods. I have also asked MPS to look into the development projects under its purview," he told a press conference after attending a meet-and-greet session with the people in the Sungai Tua constituency.

On a separate matter, Amirudin said environmental sustainability programmes (Program Kelestarian) in Sungai Tua will be held this year in order to beautify the neighbourhood.

"We will have gotong-royong activities. We will also identify several roads to be extended as well as adding more public facilities in Sungai Tua," he added.
