KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Over 2,000 newly-confirmed cases of novel coronavirus were reported as of Sunday in China.
The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia today, quoting China's National Health Commission, said 2,829 new cases were confirmed, bringing the total tally to 17,205.
Meanwhile, 57 new deaths were reported (56 in Hubei Province and one in Chongqing Municipality), bringing the total number of fatalities to 361 as of Sunday midnight.
So far, 475 patients were cured and discharged after another 147 were successfully discharged on Sunday.
"At present, 189,583 close contacts have been tracked. 10,055 people were released from medical observation on the same day, (and) 152,700 people are currently receiving medical observation," the embassy said in its Facebook posting.
