SHAH ALAM, Jan 31 — RON97 fuel is eight sen cheaper for the coming week, from RM2.49 per litre to RM2.41, the Finance Ministry said in its weekly update on fuel prices, effective from midnight February 1.
The price of RON95 and diesel remain capped at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre, respectively, until next Friday.
"Based on the calculation under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), the retail prices for both RON95 and diesel should be RM2.11 and RM2.18 per litre respectively," it said in a statement today.
The statement added that the estimated subsidy to be borne by the government between February 1 and 7 would be about RM10.43 million.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on January 5 last year under the APM.
Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
