KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 — The Ministry of Finance will be expediting the additional allocation for 12 thermal scanners as stated by Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

In a statement today, minister Lim Guan Eng said the thermal scanners are to strengthen the capabilities of Ministry of Health staff in identifying individuals with novel coronavirus symptoms at the country’s points of entry.

"Considering that the application is related to public health protection efforts and critical in nature, I have requested the Secretary-General of the Treasury Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir to give full cooperation so that the allocation can be channelled out as soon as possible.

"The Finance Ministry will give full cooperation to the Health Ministry to ensure that the public health agency can carry out their duty at a level that meets the international standards," he said.
