KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 — The Federal Territory Ministry through City Hall, (DBKL) has set up a revolving fund of RM3.9 million to help Bumiputras buy affordable homes.
Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said the move was to enable the buyers to make down payments on the purchase of homes.
‘’The interest-free loans from the revolving fund must be paid back in 10 years,’’ he told reporters, in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
The money for the fund comes from fines paid by developers who have sold Bumiputra units to non-Bumiputeras without approval.
He said the target group of the revolving fund was the B40 income earners.
Meanwhile, Khalid said an allocation of RM10 million was provided for recruiting 229 part-time DBKL workers for various events this year, such as the KL World Book Capital, the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign, and the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation Summit.
