KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad wishes ‘Happy Ponggal’ to the Tamil community celebrating the festival today.
“Ponggal is a harvest festival celebrated by the Tamils in our country. Ponggal in Tamil means an overflow of abundance
“I hope this year will bring prosperity to all,” he said in a 30-second video clip uploaded on his Chedet Official Youtube page, yesterday.
Pongal is a four-day harvest festival which falls on the first day of the month of ‘Thai’ in the Tamil calendar and is celebrated as a thanksgiving ceremony for the year’s harvest.
