KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for police to probe the violent incident that broke out earlier on the street outside the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, where the PKR annual congress is held.

In a statement today, Anwar had also urged for the party’s Disciplinary Board to act on the matter and sack members who were responsible over the incident.

“Let me make it clear such rude behaviour should not be tolerated without taking stern action against it.

“I call for the party’s Disciplinary Board to take action on the responsible offender.

“I would also like to ask for police’s cooperation to investigate and take appropriate action on the matter,” he said in the statement.

Earlier today, it was reported that a commotion broke sometime during lunchtime, and it was said that a stone was thrown into a crowd just as the party’s Youth delegates were exiting the venue for lunch and Friday prayers.

It was also reported that at least one person was injured.

The PKR Youth and Women Annual Congresses commenced this morning, with about 1,588 delegates attending the annual event.

The party’s 14th National Congress themed ‘Two Decades of Reform: Filling The People’s Victory’, which started yesterday, would end on Sunday.
