SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 — The Selangor state government has restricted the reselling of Rumah Idaman to avoid the speculation of a hike in property price, says Selangor Housing and Urban Living Committee chairman Haniza Mohamed Talha.

She said the reselling of the affordable homes would also pave way for some to take advantage and purchase the homes for property investment.

“The Rumah Idaman homes were constructed under a set guideline that is subject to a five-year moratorium, which means each unit bought cannot be resold to another party during that period.

“Which is why it is only open to eligible applicants and if any false information were found, action will be taken towards those involved,” Haniza told the state legislative assembly in response to questions asked by Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran and Sungai Panjang assemblyman Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin.

She added that the Commissioner of Buildings (COB) and the Joint Management Body (JMB) had been notified to conducts checks on the renting of Rumah Idaman houses in the state.

“It is best that these two bodies to come up with house rules to avoid rental of the units, especially by foreign workers.

“However, an exception should be given if the homeowner has to move out and relocate due to work commitments. We would consider this,” she said.
