SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — The Opposition in the Selangor State Assembly were seen to be absent from the state legislative assembly during the debate session on the Belanjawan Selangor 2020 (Selangor Budget 2020) today.

Subang Jaya state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei said this was an “achievement” for the ruling party as the state legislative assembly saw a “zero per cent Opposition” attendance.

“Today marks a new achievement when the Opposition bloc reached zero per cent [attendance] at 4.57pm,” she said at the beginning of her debate speech on the state 2020 budget.

Earlier, Gombak Setia assemblyman had also criticised the Opposition for failing to take part in debating the state 2020 budget.

He said the indifference shown by the Opposition reflected the latter’s failure to see the Belanjawan Selangor 2020 as an important document.

“I am disappointed to see that the Opposition had failed to use this opportunity and platform to debate on the state budget,” he said at the state legislative assembly here today.

The Opposition has six seats out of the 56 constituencies within Selangor. Barisan Nasional (BN) has five seats and PAS, one.
