SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — The repair works on the Shah Alam Stadium will be done in stages, with priorities to be given on basic maintenance works such as the electrical and water system.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the cost for restoration works on the stadium was estimated at RM250 million.

“The cost to restore the stadium’s condition and systems at one go would be too costly as we need at least RM250 million to do so. Therefore we will be doing it in stages.

“If we are only gonna work on the exterior, then it won’t be beneficial as the internal functions, such as the electrical and water system, need to be repaired as well. So we will be fixing the basics first before we work on the exterior,” he told reporters at a press conference at state legislative assembly, here today.

Amirudin said the general condition of the Shah Alam Stadium, such as the field, basic amenities, and its structure, is satisfactory.

However, he said repair works on the basic facilities have been carried out for the past three to four years.

Earlier, Rizam Ismail (BN-Sungai Air Tawar) had in his Belanjawan Selangor 2020 (Selangor Budget 2020) debate urged the state government to focus on restoration works on the Shah Alam Stadium.
