KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — The police will seek the assistance of historians in verifying the contents of a comic book believed to contain elements of propaganda, and which was disseminated to some schools across the country.
Announcing this today during a press conference, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said several experts in history had already been identified.
So far, he said, a total of 46 police reports in connection with the publication and distribution of the book entitled ‘Belt and Road Initiative for Win Winism’.
Five individuals have been called to give their statements, and they include former DAP member Hew Kuan Yau, the publication’s artist known as ‘Tomato’ and two individuals from the printing company concerned that is located in Shah Alam.
Huzir added that the police was also working with the Home Ministry and the National Library in its investigations.
On Oct 18, Home Affairs Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said initial investigations by the ministry's security division, indicated that content in the publication was a cause for concern and stern action would be taken against those behind the distribution.
