Its mayor Dato’ Haris Kasim said the public library is part of the state government’s initiative to foster the reading culture among the public.

"For the remaining month of October, we are offering free membership to the public.

"This library is aimed to provide convenience to the public, especially for students and children.

"Through the state government’s initiative, we want to encourage them in making reading activities as part of their culture and utilise the library during their free time," he said at the launch of the MBSA Anggerik Aranda library in Section 19, here today.

The library is equipped with services such as reading resources and materials, computers, Wi-Fi and prayer room.

Haris said about 6,000 books are available at the library for different age groups.

"For those who are interested to become a member, the fee (for the following months) for adults is RM15, teenagers is RM10, and children is RM5. There are no charges imposed on people with disabilities," he said.
