
SHAH ALAM - The Selangor delegation begins its first visit to the Majlis Amanah Rakyat Office (MARA) in Alexandria, Egypt, on 23 September.
Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari led the delegation with Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) Chief Minister of Operations, Soffan Affendi Aminudin who were both welcomed by MARA Director in Egypt, Abdullah Samsudin and his officials.
He said the state government, through the MBI, had agreed to donate to the students in Egypt.
“I was able to make friends with the Selangor and Malaysian students studying here. Most of them are studying dentistry and medicine," he said.
“Thank you to the Director of MARA Egypt and his team for receiving our visit," he added.
"The state government through MBI has also agreed to donate to students there to carry out their activities," wrote Amirudin in his Facebook post.
Through the 2019 Budget, the State Government has allocated RM 16.6 million to fund the Selangor State Scholarship Fund.
The scholarships are the Sagong Tasi Scholarship, the Sultan of Selangor DYMM Scholarship (Shah Alam School, Putrajaya) and the Menteri Besar Scholarship.
Amirudin said apart from these scholarships, they were also funded by the Local Student Care Programme (IPTA / IPTS), the Selangor Brain Bank Programme and the Overseas Student Care Programme.
