KUALA LUMPUR - The Air Selangor Management Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) records show that there were 203 pipeline cases from January to August this year with 85 times in 53 affected areas affecting 27,985 accounts due to workings of a third-party.

Its chief executive officer, Suhaimi Kamaralzaman said in a statement on 23 September that statistics also showed that the Lake Park recorded the highest incidence of pipeline incidents during the period with 15 cases, followed by Kampung Pandan and Jalan Ayer Panas, respectively.

For the Petaling district, the location of the broken pipe was on the Jalan Kuchai Lama with a frequency of three times (K) involving eight affected areas (KT) affecting 1,500 accounts (A), while for the Klang province, three burst pipeline locations were at Taman Sentosa (K-4, KT-9, A-9,560), Taman Johan Setia (K-3, KT-1, A-1,332), Jalan Kebun (K-4, KT-4, A-5,210) and Kampung Jawa (K-6, KT-1, A-3,210).

While in the Hulu Langat region, the affected areas are Bandar Mahkota Cheras (K-4, KT-2, A-330), Taman Damai Indah (K-3, KT-1, A-550), Industri Sungai Chua (K-8, KT-2, A-440) and Kampung Sungai Balak (K-3, KT-1, A-175).

On the other hand, in the Kuala Lumpur area, broken pipes are located in Kampung Pandan (K-9, KT-4, A-800) and Taman Tasik Perdana (K-15, KT-10, A-700).

In the Gombak province, there are five locations namely Jalan Jerejak, Taman Setapak (K-3, KT-2, A-100), Jalan Ayer Panas, Setapak (K-9, KT-2, A-1,241), Jalan Cengal, Taman Setapak (K-5, KT-1, A-1,497), Jalan Besar Kepong, Kepong (K-3, KT-4, A-400) and Taman Samudera, Batu Caves (K-3, KT-1, A-400).

“For each incident, Air Selangor has informed the relevant authorities and agencies to take action to prevent the incident from happening again. We apologize to the consumers for any inconvenience that was caused by the rupture of pipelines by a third-party that was beyond our control," Suhaimi noted.

“Air Selangor will always strive to minimize the impact of disruption and provide assistance by moving water tank trucks to affected areas. Customer cooperation and patience on this matter is very much appreciated and all the hardships are to be regretted, ” he said.
