SHAH ALAM - The state government has not received any reports regarding illness cases due to haze in the state.
Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari said the state government is always taking precautions and getting feedback from relevant parties if there are reports of haze-related diseases.
"To date, there has been no report from the health department on diseases caused by the haze," he said.
According to Amirudin, the exco of Health, Welfare, Women and Family Empowerment, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud would monitor the matter from time to time.
At the same time, Amirudin noted that people were reminded to take precautions including reducing outdoor activities or wearing a mouthpiece when they are outdoors for long periods of time.
“For the past three weeks, I have reminded the public to look after their own health as the haze has hit the state," said Amirudin.
"People with symptoms such as coughing are asked to refer to a nearby clinic or hospital for treatment," he said.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollution Index (APIMS) Report, as of 2 pm, the API readings in Johan Setia were recorded 236, Klang (196), Banting (183) and Shah Alam (171).
An API reading of 0 to 50 is categorized as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 or above (dangerous).
