SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Shariah Judicial Department (JAKESS) has launched an online application, e-Locator to enable the public to identify which jurisdiction of the Syariah Court in Selangor they will need to go for the filing of a case.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari said he praises JAKESS's initiative in implementing the application in order to help the public and is in line with the efforts of making Selangor a smart city.

He said the initiative is also in line with the Fifth Selangor Budget Strategy aimed at enhancing excellence in governance efficiency and delivering excellent service to customers.

“This application system can avoid the loss of time and cost to the public, especially when they have filed a wrongful case in court that is not within the right jurisdiction," said Amirudin.

"Through this application, they will be able to find out directly what information is needed such as where within the Syariah Court should they go to hear their case," he said.

Amirudin was speaking at a press conference following the Syariah Law Awareness Seminar, the Launch of the Selangor Family Support Division's Aid Fund and an e-Locator System at the Shah Alam Convention Center, here, on 17 September.

Also present were exco of Health, Welfare, Women and Family Empowerment, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and Chief Syariah Judge Mohammad Adib Husain.

At the same time, Amirudin said he congratulates JAKESS for receiving various recognition from Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) at Regional and National level.

“I've found out that the system won the Three Star Gold Award in the National Team Excellence program in conjunction with the Annual Productivity and Innovation Conference and Exposition," Amirudin noted.

"Hopefully with this development, JAKESS's customer service will become easier and will  improve the quality of service provided," he said.
