PUTRAJAYA - The public hearing of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the discovery of transit camps and graves in Wang Kelian, Perlis enters its 14th day today. As at May 28, 38 individuals had testified including three witnesses on the last day when a closed session was held before the proceeding was adjourned for the Aidilfitri celebration.
The proceeding which began at about 10.40 am, is expected to call three more individuals to give their statements before a seven-member panel headed by former Chief Justice Tun Ariffin Zakaria.
The first individual to testify today was the senior forensic consultant of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital Forensic Medicine Department, Dr Mohd Suhani Mohd Noor.
The RCI set up by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on January 29, was held at Dewan Gemilang of the Home Ministry here.
It was held following the discovery of 139 graves and 28 human trafficking camps abandoned at the hill top of Bukit Wang Burma in Wang Kelian located at the Malaysian-Thai border in 2015.
The RCI among others will review all documents and evidence relating to the finding of transit camps and graves in Wang Kelian.
