SUBANG JAYA - A total of RM 5 million is allocated to the 47 Senior Citizens Activities Center (PAWE) nationwide, said Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Hannah Yeoh.

Hannah stated that eight new PAWEs were set up in Selangor.

"All these associations will receive RM 33,330 fund assistance each year to help their operating costs go smoothly," she said.

"Our goal is that one parliament will bein charge of a PAWE to enable these senior citizens to benefit," she told a media conference at the launch of PAWE Subang Jaya at the USJ6 Senior Citizen Club on 11 June.

Also present were Subang MP MP Wong Chen; Subang Jaya State Assemblyman Michelle Ng and Selangor Social Welfare Department director Mohammad Hanafi Maulud.

At the same time, Hannah also urged all PAWEs across the nation to focus not only on one race while organizing any activity.

"Do not sit in a group of Malays only while the Indians are with their own people and the Chinese are with theirs, we want to see the racial integration in all PAWE," she said.

"At the same time, PAWE members should also work with associations and non-governmental organizations around them, such as mosques and other synagogues."
