KUALA SELANGOR - The beauty of the Blue Tears phenomenon on the surface of the beach in Kuala Selangor impressed Duli Yang Maha Mulia (DYMM) Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and her entourage.
Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin wanted to board a boat with Sekinchan State Assemblyman Ng Suee Lim to see the phenomenon that had just occurred here in Kuala Selangor that was close to the most popular tourist attraction here, which is the Sky Mirror, last night.
Suee Lim said Blue Tears phenomenon is the latest tourism product that brings tourists to come to the area at night.
"Today we bring the Queen look at the beauty of Blue Tears which is rarely seen elsewhere and can only be found in Kuala Selangor," said Suee Lim.
"The purpose of this visit is to bring together the products of Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor so that there will be a three-day and two-night package for tourists, thereby enhancing the attraction products in both districts," he added.
Meanwhile, the owner of Sky Mirror Tour & Travel, Dyven Wong said, the Blue Tears phenomenon came from phytoplankton, a microscopic marine plant drifting on the surface of the water.
Wong says it later produces a light blue light when it reacts with oxygen content in seawater.
He said they started to discover the phenomenon around last year and it is increasingly noticeable.
"We are the only licensed tourism company to bring tourists to see the wonders of nature," said Wong.
"This tour is available every night at 8, 9 and 10 pm. The darker the area, the better it is to see the Blue Tears," he said.
"However, it may not be the same when you try to catch it with the camera, only the naked eye can see this beauty."
The visit was among the places that is part of the programme in Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin's friendly visit to Sekinchan.
The one-day visit was aimed to be festive and mingle with the people in the district while visiting several interesting places here, on 2 May.
Among other places visited are antiques, Ah Ma House; rice plant mill PLS Marketing Sdn Bhd and Wisma Masri, Parit 7, Khind Factory and Secret Garden Restaurant.
