KOTA KINABALU - A total of six primary schools and one secondary school forced to close due to worsening floods that hit a few districts in Sabah.

Sabah Education Department director Mistirine Radin said apart from being flooded, there were also schools being used as the temporary relief centres (PPSs).

“The closure of the schools affected 1,989 students and 173 teachers in Sandakan and Pitas districts,” she said when contacted, here today.

She said among the affected schools were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sualok, SK Binsulung, SK Sungai-Sungai and SK Tampat in Sandakan.

Meanwhile, in Pitas, the schools affected by floods were SK Sosop, SK Kusilad and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pitas 2.

Meanwhile, three other schools are used as temporary relief centres, namely, SK Pamol in Sandakan, SK Ranau in Kota Marudu and SK Pekan Pitas 2, in Pitas.
