SHAH ALAM - The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has allocated RM5,000 to all its Council Members to implement the program to eradicate dengue, in their respective areas.

Yang Dipertua, Dato 'Mohamad Yasid Bidin said a total of 23 Councilors received the allocation as one of the measures to reduce the spread of dengue epidemic, in the district.

"With that provision, we want every Council Member to hold a relevant program such as mutual cooperation so that the Aedes breeding ground can be eliminated.

"We are optimistic in this way that it can help reduce the dengue epidemic in Klang, making it a safe area of Aedes breeding," he told SelangorKini.

However, he said the effort would not be possible if the people did not play the role of eradicating Aedes.

"The 10-minute clean-up campaign launched since April last year saw no response from the residents as some of them still kept old items up to become the source of water reservoirs.

"In fact, plastic bottles and polystyrene are also removed everywhere, thus inviting Aedes mosquito breeding.

"Therefore, we are very hopeful this year, residents can work together to practice the 10-minute so that the efforts to curb the dengue epidemic in Klang are achieved," he said.
