SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Football Association (FAS) today introduced the third jersey of the Selangor football team prior to facing the 2019 League of Malaysia (Liga-M).

In the next season, the team called the 'Red Giants' will use the Joma brand jersey while, different from this year, the third jersey of the team will now be green which is also the official color of the Raja Muda of Selangor.

In the 2018 season, the third jersey of the Selangor squad is yellow.

The launch of the jersey was completed by Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who is also the FAS President at the Shah Alam Stadium, in conjunction with Selangor Football Day on Dec 16.

Also introduced during the launch of the jersey were 24 players who will bring the Selangor squad challenge in the M-League 2019.

Among the line-ups were Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor, Abdul Latiff Suhaimi, Mohd Faiz Mohd Nasir, Mohd Amri Yahyah, Rufino Segovia and head coach B. Sathianathan.

Meanwhile, Tengku Amir Shah in his opening remarks, said his party and new management of FAS had implemented various transformations to restore Selangor's status as the local football authority.

"FAS is now more open, easy to approach and enthusiastic, our fans are supposed to be Asian champions, and we (FAS) have to think about how to become champions," he said.

Meanwhile, Sathianathan, when met by reporters, said he was looking at some import players to strengthen the team to face the next season's rivals.

"I am currently negotiating with a player, he has played with me and I know his abilities, but two more importers for the midfield and defender position we are looking for.

"I might not have to fill the import quota from ASEAN because for me this is a good player from Vietnam and Thailand, but to get them is hard because they are paid a high salary and there is a transfer fee, we have to be realistic," he said.

Commenting on the team's two players, Mohd Shazwan Zainon and Muhammad Syahmi Safari, Sathianathan said the two teams were leaving for the two national teams who had just finished the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018.

In the action on Dec 15, Malaysia's hope to end the eight-year drought in the AFF Suzuki Cup was unsuccessful after a 0-1 defeat to Vietnam in the second final in My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi.

The decision saw Vietnam emerging champions for the second time after 2008 through an aggregate 3-2 result, and thus crushed Malaysia's dream of reaching the second title after the 2010 edition.
