SHAH ALAM: In a bid to grasp Industry 4.0, Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali said that he has been instructed to return Cyberjaya back to its roots.
He said this is because Cyberjaya is no longer seen as Malaysia's version of US' Silicon Valley or India's Bangalore as it has gone astray from its initial purpose.
"Instead it has turned into property development. That is far off from its intended purpose of being the industry's IT hub.
"These are among the instruction given by Prime Minister (Dr Mahathir Mohamad) to me to review Cyberjaya's developments so that we can bring back several industry players," he said.
He said this during Sinar Harian's dialogue session with Azmin called Bicara Minda.
Azmin said this is essential for Malaysia's development as the nation cannot afford to be left behind in new things from the IT industries.
Industry 4.0 is the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data.
