KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Selayang MP William Leong Jee Keen today told the media that he is willing to give up his seat to make way for defacto leader Anwar Ibrahim's political comeback.

He said not only him, but any one of the 51 PKR lawmakers wouldn't mind giving up their seat if they are asked to, for the sake of Anwar.

However, Leong said that the matter has yet to be brought up internally, dismissing the sparks as nothing more than just rumours.

“I believe all 51 Mps from PKR, no one would refuse to give way to Anwar. But so far there wasn't any discussion so I don't know how this rumour is going around."

“But yes, if top leaders have identified the seat and speaks to me about it, I will give it up. I have no problem in doing so,” he told reporters in Parliament today.

Yesterday, after being unopposed, Anwar unofficially won the party presidency post. The post requires an auditor to be appointed by the new party leadership prior to making the result official.

The appointment is scheduled to take place by Aug 19.

Leong who is also eyeing the party Vice President post at the upcoming PKR polls, denied that any act of a lawmaker vacating their post for Anwar is considered playing with the trust of voters.

“This is not respecting the voters. We are all contesting under the same logo which is PKR. Its not a game. Anwar is a political victim. So why shouldn't we give him a chance,” he said.
