KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Deputy President Mohamed Azmin Ali expressed his delight for defacto leader Anwar Ibrahim who yesterday unofficially won the President post unconstested.

He said that the victory reflects how PKR members are behind Anwar, wanting him to be given an important role in leading a party which holds the biggest bloc in ruling coalition Pakatan Harapan.

"I am happy. He now has an undivided support to lead the party. This is proven in the nomination yesterday where there are no other presidency candidates but Anwar," he said.

Commenting on defending his number two post in the party, Azmin said that he will leave his fate to 'the wisdom of PKR members'.

Azmin will be defending his Deputy President post against PKR Vice President Rafizi Ramli at the upcoming party polls.

On another matter, Azmin who is also the Economic Affairs Minister described a meeting he had on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) as simply 'positive'

Although unofficial, Azmin said Putrajaya will be having the official meeting with its Singapore counterparts sometime in this month.

"Yesterday I was there (Singapore) to visit (Home Affairs Minister) Muhyiddin Yassin and I took that opportunity to meet some senior officials in Singapore."

"(This was) to discuss about HSR. I will issue a statement to that effect at some point. The meeting was very positive," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Last week, Singapore government in a statement said it had received a letter from Malaysia who are currently studying the details of the HSR project prior to discussing the matter further with the republic.
