PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) have scheduled the Balakong by-election to take place on September 8, while its Nomination Day will take place on August 18.
EC deputy chairman Othman Mahmood after the special meeting on the election said the by-election will also be providing a 21-day campaign period.
The Balakong seat in the Selangor Legislative Assembly fell vacant after its representative, DAP's Eddie Ng perished in an accident on July 20.
Ng was killed in an accident at the Grand Saga Highway in Cheras.
His passing was the second tragedy that fell upon the Selangor State Legislative Assembly following the death of PKR's Shuhaimi Shafie on July 2 because of lymphoma.
