KUALA LUMPUR: Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa today apologised for his remark on more by-elections taking place in the future, with one possible being in Langkawi.

Langkawi is the Parliamentary constituency for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The Ketereh lawmaker however defended himself when he said that the people had misinterpreted his remarks.

“I was saying the by-election happened because its God's plan and it can happen anywhere, probably in Langkawi, i also said Bera and Ketereh in a jest.

“So don’t take offence. If anybody feel offended, I apologise, no problem,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

Annuar was reported saying in Sungai Kandis that more by-elections could take place after the deaths of two incumbent assemblymen, one in Sungai Kandis and another in Balakong.

He also mentioned that Langkawi could be one of the possible constituency.
