SELAYANG, SEP 27: KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) is effectively managing solid waste in Selayang since last March, with reduction in the number of complains.

Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco, Ean Yong Hian Wah said, within that period, KDEBWM has proved its efficiency in managing solid waste and has enhanced the level of cleanliness in Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) jurisdiction.

“Complain statistics last March, the first month KDEBWM took over from MPS, was 1,300 complains and it went down every month until last August to merely 36 complains.

“Congratulations to KDEBWM’s employees and sub-contractors on this achievement, and hopefully this level of performance can be maintained,” he said.

He said that during the Solid and Bulk Waste Management Service Agreement between MPS and KDEBWM Signing Ceremony and KDEBWM New Compactor Lorry Handover, at the MPS lobby today.

He said the seven years agreement will bring MPS to a new era in solid waste management where KDEBWM promised to make changes and implement a new modus operandi.

“The use of Japanese-made compactor lorries, equipped with several gadgets and sophisticated system is for the use of all sub-contractors in Selayang.

“All these compactor lorries’ movement will be monitored through the Automatic Vehicle Locating System (AVLS) which is centralized at the Centralized Command Center (CCC) in KDEBWM Headquarters in Shah Alam.

“KDEBWM also uses the IClean Selangor application to manage complains, where this application is one of the State Government’s initiatives in the Smart Selangor programme to facilitate the people,” he said.

MPS is the second local authority together with Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) whose solid waste management were taken over by KDEBWM, following its pioneer project with Klang Municipal Council (MPK) in July last year.

Also present were MPS Yang Dipertua, Suliman Abd Rahman; MPS Deputy Yang Dipertua, Dato’ Juhari Ahmad; KDEBWM Director, Syaiful Azmen Nordin; KDEBWM General Manager, Ramli Mohd Tahir and other guests.
