SHAH ALAM, 25 SEPT: Dato 'Menteri Besar, Dato' Mohamed Azmin Ali ordered his lawyer to take legal action against Utusan Malaysia (Utusan) regarding the liquor issue.
Strategic Communications Director, Dato 'Menteri Besar Selangor's Office, Yin Shao Loong said Mohamed Azmin demanded unconditional withdrawals, an open apology and damages from the Umno's control media.
He said the rumored statement proved that Utusan continued to be Umno's voice to spread slander and confuse the people.
"It is clearly a fraud when it said that Mohamed Azmin approves any alcohol festival and ignores the advice of the authorities as it appears on the front page of Utusan today.
"We challenge Utusan to present proof that the Dato’ Menteri Besar had issued such statement," he said in a statement.
Mohamed Azmin is currently in India on official affairs has already ordered the lawyer to start legal action immediately.
Shao Loong said Dato 'Menteri Besar is responsible for upholding and complying with laws, by-laws and state procedures.
"As a responsible government, the State Government not only respects the rights of other races and religions but we must also protect their rights as it is our country policy.
Honesty, integrity and justice are always the foundation of our approach as a people-friendly government in Selangor, "he said.
