SHAH ALAM, SEPT 20: The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department is preparing to face any possibility following the expectation of a major flood due to the phenomenon of high tide.

Head of Operations Management and Station, Fire and Rescue Department of Selangor, Alimaddia Bukri said the phenomenon is expected to take place in stages from today until December 5.

"Among the steps taken to cope with this phenomenon is the preparation of rescue boats and utility vehicles, periodic patrols in the area that the phenomenon are expected to occur and preparations for victim evacuations.

"In addition, we also reschedule personnel shifts and work closely with related agencies on a continuous basis throughout the phenomenon," he said in a statement yesterday.

He said 15 locations comprising five districts in Selangor that are Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam were expected to be affected by the phenomenon of the high tide.

The locations are Pengkalan Tok Muda, Batu 4 Kapar Road, Port Klang, Pandamaran Banting Road and Taman Selat Damai in Klang; Tombuk Mendeling, Sungai Air Tawar and Sungai Panjang (Sabak Bernam); Tanjung Karang, Kampung Kuantan, Pantai Remis and Pekan Sungai Buloh (Kuala Selangor); Bagan Lalang Coast (Sepang) as well as Kelanang Beach and Tanjung Sepat Beach in Kuala Langat.

Alimaddia said, 15 fire and rescue stations from the five districts were ordered to join carry out rescue operations and evacuation of victims during the major phenomenon.

He said that as a precautionary measure, he is also monitoring the area near the shore and areas that tend to be flooded.
