SHAH ALAM, AUG 24: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had just a while ago shared the good news of a huge investment from the world giant store IKEA, into Selangor.
He led the State Government’s delegation to IKEA’s Corporate Office in Basel for the Sale and Purchase Agreement (S&P) Signing Ceremony between IKEA and Central Spectrum Sdn Bhd (CSSB).
He said, IKEA will be storing and distributing its products for the Asia Pacific market in Pulau Indah, with a capacity six times larger that IKEA Basel itself, at 230,000 pallets capacity compared to 48,000.
“The signing today is the peak of our hard work and continuous effort from both parties. To IKEA, thank you for making the right choice,” he said through Twitter.
Mohamed Azmin said, IKEA always highlights important aspects which are highly admired and should be emulated such as its sustainable green policy and the use of environmental-friendly materials in its fabrication process.
He said, the cooperation will bring huge benefits to Selangor in terms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and employment opportunities which ultimately will boost a rapid industrial growth.
“IKEA is moving towards using renewable energy and power saving. While we welcome FDIs, we also want value, and no doubt this is a mega investment in Selangor.
“This is a good start and let us celebrate the coming years with successes that we shall achieve out of this cooperation,” he said.
Last August 19, Azmin announced that his delegation is departing to Europe to sign a deal worth over RM2 billion.
Last August 24, he left for Europe, accompanied by State Government top officials such as State Financial Officer, Dato’ Noordin Sulaiman and Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.
It was made to understand that CSSB will issue an official statement on this latest by tomorrow.
