PUCHONG, JUL 12: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) continues to strengthen education and knowledge on green practices to all levels of the community including the younger generation.
Its Acting Yang Dipertua, Mohammad Zulkurnain Che Ali said, among the initiative taken is to give educational programmes to teachers and students in schools under its jurisdiction.
“There were 32 schools that volunteered to participate in the Organic Waste Compost Programme, however 17 schools are chosen first today.
“As a supporting initiative, MPSJ will supply free rotating compost bins to these 17 schools, sponsored by Rotocraft Technology Sdn Bhd,” he said at the 2017 MPSJ Compost Bin Handover and Green Visit to Biomass Centre Ceremony, today.
At the same time, he said the teachers and students were briefed and given a demonstration on how the organic waste is being composted using the bins before the project is implemented in the schools.
Zulkurnain said the project will compost farm waste and food, vermicompost, biodiesel, recycled cooking oil and anaerobic digestion biogas.
“The learning process and the practice to compost will be extended and expanded to other students through co-curiculum activities such as Environmental Society and others,” he said.
