SHAH ALAM, JUNE 15: The Al-Azim Mosque in Pandan Indah has been chosen as the first location for Food For All Project (MUS) to help the poor especially the asnaf group (eligible zakat recipents) to get daily food for free.

The pioneer project organised by Chempaka Community Service Centre (PKM) in Pandan is done in cooperation with the mosque and will be expanded to other surau and mosques in Chempaka constituency.

Chempaka Assemblyman, Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said, the project is expected to create awareness to the public on the hardship faced by certain group of people who need food.

“The public, especially businessmen and donors can contribute excess food to avoid wastage. I hope mosque and surau around Selangor can emulate what the Pandan Indah Al-Azim Mosque is doing.

“A mosque’s function must be expanded as beyond a place for worship but as a one-stop centre, providing services and assistance for all,” he said.

At the launch ceremony, Iskandar had also contributed a large-sized fridge for the mosque.

The mosque’s Nazir, Azmi Anuar had also concurred with the concept highlighted by Iskandar for mosques to initiate help and contribution especially to the asnaf.
