Qatar crisis will not affect hajj

SHAH ALAM, JUNE 8: The Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) has assured that the administration of hajj for 33,000 pilgrims from this country will not be affected by the current Middle East crisis.

Its Chairman, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said, LTH is monitoring the situation and making thorough preparations to ensure a smooth journey for the pilgrims.

“We do not see this crisis will pose any problem or disruption to the hajj pilgrims. The first flight is expected to depart this July 24 and the last flight, August 24.

“Tabung Haji has a wide experience in handling our responsibilities and we will ensure ease and safety for each pilgrim throughout the hajj season,” he said as quoted by Kosmo Online.

The Middle East is currently in a crisis after six countries including Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties and military cooperation with Qatar last Monday.

The action was taken on grounds that Qatar supports terrorist groups.
