NSA: Russia behind France Presidential Election cyber attack

WASHINGTON, MAY 10: America’s National Security Agency (NSA) Chief said Russia is behind the cyber-attack on Emmanuel Macron’s Presidential Election campaign.

A United State’s (US) officials have also informed France of a pending attack, as reported by International News Agency AFP.

The cyber intrusion on Macron’s campaign a few hours ahead of the second round of election last Sunday when he was elected, revealed thousands of files online.

“We realised Russia’s activity. We have spoken to our Russian counterparts and warned them before announcing what happened last weekend.

“We are watching Russia, saw them infiltrating several infrastructures. This is what we see, what we need to do to try to help,” said Admiral Mike Rogers to the Senate Armed Services Committee. Rogers however did not elaborate on the type of ‘infrastructure’ affected.

He said, the agency is in contact with the similar bodies in Britain and Germany ahead of their elections later this year.
