KLANG, APR 7: The State Government channeled RM3 million to non-governmental association (NGO) and relevant parties to implement Early Intervention Programme (EIP) in Selangor.

Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi said the contribution is given in appreciation of those organisations who face financial constraints in educating special-needs children.

“We allocate some money to NGO to implement EIP realizing this programme requires huge expenses.

“Educating these special children requires specific programmes and expertise involving experts,” she said to the media.

Earlier, Daroyah visited and donated RM100,000 to the National Autism Association of Malaysia (Nasom) in Teluk Pulai.

Nasom with 70 students is one of the NGO listed as State Government aid recipients.

The same amount was donated to Insani Autism Academy in Taman Selayang Utama, Batu Caves.

EIP is an education package referring to services being provided to infants and children with disabilities such as hearing, vision, learning and physical disabilities.

All the disabilities mentioned above require early intervention and must be done as early as at birth.
