SUBANG JAYA, MAR 28: Selangor is consistently driven towards the growth of the Smart State concept through the signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Taipei.

The deal is implemented as a part of the State Government’s initiative to achieve Smart State status by 2025.

The ceremony was witnessed by Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Taipei Mayor, Dr Ko Wen-Je at the Dorset Grand Subang yesterday.

Three State Government agencies, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), Selangor Digital Creative Centre (SDCC) and the Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Committee, signed the MOU with Taipei city as basis of the cooperation.

State Government was represented by MBI Chief Executive Officer, YM Raja Shahreen Raja Othman; State Government Exco, Dato’ Teng Chang Kim and SDCC Chief Executive Officer, Yong Kai Ping.

The cooperation focus on smart transportation involving sharing system development

of public bicycle for Selangor citizens and encouragement to use electric cars throughout the state.

The next focus is on the ongoing efforts to develop a Smart State policy which will be pursued by MBI through Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU).

The MOU which is fully supported by Selangor Information Technology E-Commerce Council (SITEC) will also be implementing the Start-Up community cooperation, between the two parties to increase domestic and foreign market shares.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Menteri Besar in his speech said he is optimistic that the cooperation will reinforce Smart State development in the Selangor.

“I believe this MOU can realise the state’s aspiration to lead in the Smart State development by 2025.

“With one of the focus of this MOU, I believe the desire to turn Selangor into a free-carbon city can also be achieved with the support to use electric vehicles and ‘smart solution’ methods throughout the state,” he said.
