KUALA LUMPUR, MAR 22: Tourism Ministry is recommended to introduce Malaysia Summer Home Programme to attract more tourists from countries with winter season.

Seremban Member of Parliament, Anthony Loke said, the programme can be implemented similar to the concept of Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme which managed to bring returns to the country.

“We can attract tourists from cold countries to Malaysia based on MM2H conditions.

“They can relax and travel in our country for a few months,” he said.

He said that while posing additional questions to Malaysian Tourism and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz during an verbal question and answer session in the Dewan Rakyat.

Mohamed Nazri in his reply welcomed the idea and was prepared to consider it.

“It is a good idea and we are prepared to consider it. The implementation can be discussed,” he said.

Since MM2H was introduced in 2002 until November 2016, the Tourism Ministry received 31,723 applications from 126 countries.

According to the Ministry, MM2H managed to contribute almost RM2.9 billion in 2016.
