KOTA DAMANSARA, MAR 21: The State Government allocates RM3 million fund to support special education centres in providing special programmes for the development of children with disabilities (OKU).
Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi said the special education centres can be the bridge connecting between the State Government and the OKU children with their parents.
“We know the challenges faced by centres like this where special requirements like speech therapy, physiotherapy and others are not cheap to provide and require specialists who need to be paid highly for their specialities,” he said.
Daroyah said that during a media conference at the aid presentation by the State Government to two special education centres at the Pusat Pendidikan Khas Eden Firdaus at Red Carpet Avenue, Encorp Strand Mall yesterday.
She hopes that these centres in Selangor will fulfil their responsibilities effectively to ensure this group of children can be independent and also succeed in life.
She said it is not impossible that these special children can stand on their own and succeed in life as proven by businessman, Samrizat Sazli Samsudin.
“We hope these centres can help the children succeed like Shamrizat, we have a living proof so to parents and children with disabilities, it is not the end of the world.
“Don’t take it as a burden but take it as a blessing from god,” she said.
Daroyah had presented a RM100,000 contribution to Eden Firdaus and RM50,000 to Andra Uphill Salak Tinggi.
The Community Service Centre Coordinator for Kota Damansara Constituency, Radzlan Jalaluddin also attended the ceremony.
