SHAH ALAM, FEB 17: The Pakatan Government remains to be the preferred choice of Selangor citizens to continue leading the state after the 14th General Election (GE14).
That was revealed by Darul Ehsan Institute (IDE) in a perception survey conducted on February 8 to 13, on Selangor citizens ahead of GE14.
IDE Deputy Chairman, Prof Datuk Mohammad Redzuan Othman said, if an election is held within six months from now, there will be no power shift to Barisan Nasional.
“If GE14 is held within this six months, Pakatan will continue to govern Selangor,” he said at the survey result presentation to reporters at the IDE building earlier this afternoon.
He said, the result found that Selangor still chose the current Government, taking into account Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s leadership.
According to him, the confidence is also driven by the local authorities’ commitment to carry out their duties with full responsibilities.
“Selangor citizens chose to remain with Pakatan Government as they are pleased with Dato’ Menteri Besar’s leadership and the citizen-oriented schemes implemented in Selangor.
“This is also driven by the peoples’ confidence in the management of local authorities who have carried out their duties involving local issues throughout Selangor in a satisfactory manner.
“The well managed local authorities contribute greatly to the support received from the citizens towards the current Pakatan Government,” he said.
Results revealed that 50 percent of Selangor citizens support their local authorities for carrying out their duties responsibly, be it in town or rural areas.
34 percent did not quite agree to that while 8 percent disagreed, 4 percent totally disagreed and another 4 percent agreed totally that their local authorities have done an excellent job.
Last Tuesday, the IDE survey also found that support towards Dato’ Menteri Besar’s leadership in Selangor increased to 62 percent, ultimately strengthening the peoples’ support towards the current state’s leadership.
