SHAH ALAM FEB 10: Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department (JAKESS) launched 'No Gift Policy' as an effort to prevent corruption among civil servants and departments.
The opening ceremony officiated by Exco of Religious Affairs, Malay Customs, Rural Development and Traditional Village, Dato' Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi in Daeng Chelak Auditorium, Shah Alam Museum, today.
Ahmad Yunus said the policy coincides with the State Government's desire to produce good governance and leadership based on the concept of amar ma’ruf nahi mungkar.
"We fear that any form of integration was a seed that can be disputed and the question of corruption will begin to sprout.
"Although it is normal for people to give a gift to an application, we are concerned that this will eventually become demanding that lead to corruption," he said.
He said this in a press conference after the Association of Civil Servants Committee for Religious Affairs, Malay Customs, Rural Development and Traditional Village Houses.
Under the policy, employees of JAKESS cannot accept or give gifts of a personal nature or to any party who has an interest or related to the department's official duties involved.
The policy is in accordance to Regulation 8(1) (a) and (b) Public Officers Regulations (Conduct and Discipline) 1993 Para 12, the Service Circular 3 years Bil 1998.
It also involves the rules of Section 165, Penal Code (Act 574) and Section 3, Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (Act 694).
