Thaipusam: MB donates RM380,000 to 28 temples

BATU CAVES, FEB 9: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali gave donations to non-Muslim houses of worship with a total of RM380,000 distributed to 28 temples, in conjunction with the Selangor State Level Thaipusam celebration.

In his speech, he said that the presence of Malay and Chinese in the celebration are signs of respect among the multi races in Malaysia.

“I want the society and community including people from other countries who come to Selangor not merely for the vibrant economy, we want them to come because of the tolerant communities who respect each other,” he said.

He said that during the Selangor State Cheque Presentation Ceremony to Non-Muslim Houses of Worship at the Batu Malai Sri Subramaniar Temple compound yesterday.

He said, the Selangor Indian community enjoy the same privileges in terms of facilities and assistance given by the State Government to other races.

“The younger Indian generation has the potential to become successful entrepreneurs.

“The State Government has allocated Rm1 million to realise the ‘Selangor Indian Entrepreneurship and Capacity-Building Program: Towards Economic Resilience, Empowerment and Upward Mobility’,” he said.

Besides that, the State Government also guarantees a more conducive access to education by approving to build the Children of Farmer’s Hostel.
