A Tanjung Sepat fisherman, Chia Siew Hong, 60, said the equipment will facilitate his job and saves time.

“GPS is really useful for fishermen as we can detect a specific location for fishing.

“Thank you to the State Government for helping us with this,” he said.

Siew Hong is among the 200 fishermen and aquaculture entrepreneur who received aid distributed by the Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries Exco, Zaidy Abdul Talib.

A fisherman from Teluk Penglima Garang, Abu Zarin Abu Hashim 69, said the GPS equipment are given right on time as fishermen really need such equipment.

“We need to use new technologies like this to facilitate our work and increase our catch.

“This will benefit many fishermen as many among us who are not able to purchase it ourselves,” he said.

The GPS are donated by the State Government to facilitate the relevant groups who had to apply through the Selangor State Fishery Department.
