Two container vessels collide in Pasir Gudang: 300 tonnes oil spilled

SHAH ALAM, JAN 4: The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in a media statement reported that two container vessels had collided at Pasir Gudang Port, Johor Bahru spilling 300 tonnes of oil at the sea.

The two vessels were Singapore-registered, WAN HAI 301 and Gibraltar APL DENVER.

MPA said the incident did not cause any injury or obstruction to marine traffic operations in Johor and Singapore waters.

Some oil patches were spotted in Singapore, with the spillage off the west of Pulau Ubin.

MPA has activated eight anti-pollution crafts with dispersant spraying capabilities to clean up the oil.

“MPA will investigate the cause of the collision,” it said.
