SHAH ALAM, JAN 4: The contractor who allegedly did not collect garbage for almost one week is believed to be acting out a sabotage following non-renewal of their contract.

The Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said several areas in the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) faced problems due to piles of uncollected garbage, in the period before the contract expiry on December 31.

He said the affected areas were Pasar Kampung Baru, Seri Kembangan, Taman Universiti Indah and Taman Bukit Serdang, Seksyen 5.

“This is the most serious complaint I have received from residents, when contractors stop collecting garbage a week before the contract expiration. This case of sabotage is common in many local authority areas when contracts are expiring.

“This case has caused residents and traders to endure the stench from the uncollected garbage and the disposal area became extremely dirty. Now the new contractor has to collect the garbage which has been left for days,” he said.

Meanwhile, MPSJ Solid Waste Management and General Cleaning Department (JPSPPA) Director Dr Roslan Mohamed Hussein said that he will deduct payment to the said contractor.

He said he will check on the number of days that the garbage was not collected and will deduct their payment accordingly. This had been done before as the particular contractor had been creating problems almost every month.
