SHAH ALAM, JAN 3: Local Authorities were ordered to engage organisers who are experienced and trained for future fireworks shows.
Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said is to ensure the explosion which injured 14 spectators on Saturday do not recur.
“The firework explosion during the new year’s eve celebrations at Fiesta Gegar Klang 2016, Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran, Klang is viewed seriously by the State Government.
“Hence, the Klang City Council (MPK) has been asked to conduct an internal investigation in a transparent manner, to identify the cause or the party responsible for the accident.
“Disciplinary or legal action will be taken against those found responsible for this accident,” he said in a statement.
In the incident on the night of December 31, an explosion occurred unexpectedly, injuring 14 spectators - 10 adults and 4 children.
During the incident, the fireworks used for the new year show exploded before they were launched.
Following that incident, MPK has establish a special committee to investigate the case.
