SHAH ALAM, DEC 16: The selection of a candidate for a Prime Minister among the opposition is decided based on the principles of reform in the opposition’s coalition.

KEADILAN Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar said the candidate must uphold the principles for the benefit of Malaysian citizens.

“The main pre-requisite is the principle of reform that ensures justice is upheld in our country’s democratic institution. That is important,” she said in a media conference, on December 15.

It was reported that there were many speculations on a candidate qualified to become prime minister, should the opposition win the 14th General Election (GE14).

Nurul Izzah said the agenda and conditions to implement reforms will be the priority of the country’s administration, should there be a power shift.

“Pakatan Harapan will not forget the pre-requisite in implementing the agenda.

“That is why the question is not simply a matter of replacing the prime minister, but what is needed to respect the spirit of the Constitution,” she said.

The opposition coalition had prior to this,  unanimously stated that KEADILAN General Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be appointed as Prime Minister if Pakatan governs Putrajaya.

However, Anwar is now serving a five-year prison sentence for a political indictment against him.
